Three jazz arrangements

These arrangements are imaginations of how a pianist might interpret three of my jazz tunes.

For Bluebeard I wrote a short intro and three solo choruses which, if I may say so myself, sound rather decent.

Kraton Terumasa was the hardest to arrange because I needed to find a way to make the piece have the forward momentum that a drummer would usually provide in a jazz ensemble. I'd like to think that I managed to crack it in the end.

For Rincik I didn't write a solo as I feared that, due to its total length, the piece might get cut from an upcoming performance, so instead the piano is mostly just comping. Even without a solo, I think it works quite well as a contrasting closure.

If you're interested in seeing the lead sheets for these three tunes, you can find them here.

The three arrangements were premiered by Karen Kingsley in 2024 as part of a New Music Brighton concert.
